God
has done something unheard of and wonderful. Back in 1959 my wife,
Anne, and I arrived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to pastor our first
church. Meeting in a school, we saw our congregation’s attendance
decline during the first nine months from forty-five to seventeen
people. Then God, using a man named Kennedy Smartt, taught me how
to do personal evangelism. My life has never been the same. In 1962
I taught evangelism and gave my first trainees —Anne Kennedy,
Victor Wierman, and Freeman Springer—on-the-job training. Anne,
Victor, and Freeman led their first souls to Christ and Evangelism
Explosion was born!
Today EE is using these same methods—with years of refinements—and
an abundant harvest continues in all 211 nations of the world. The
New Testament principles of on-the-job training and follow-up discipleship
are being used in numerous denominations and cultures across America.
EE’s simple but clear Gospel presentation is proving effective
in winning hundreds of thousands of souls to Christ.
EE is transforming churches by equipping lay people to share their
faith in actual witnessing experiences under the guidance of experienced
trainers. A survey done by Christianity Today demonstrated that EE
is today the most widely used tool for training pastors and laity
for evangelism. EE not only empowers trainees to gain confidence in
presenting the Gospel, it enables them to become trainers of other
soul-winners, thus setting entire churches on fire for evangelistic
outreach to friends and neighbors.
EE Leadership Clinics began as a result of many inquiries from pastors
about implementing this ministry in their local churches. As the ministry
multiplied, so have the training opportunities. Clinics are now held
on every continent of the world as EE fulfills a bold vision—to
bring the Gospel to all the nations.
Following God’s blueprint,
EE began in the “Jerusalem” of one church in Fort Lauderdale,
moved into the “Judea” of other U.S. churches, continued
into the “Samaria” of other denominations and cultures,
and spread throughout the world to every nation!
