“It blew me away!”

That’s a statement from Shayne Wheeler, Youth Pastor, at New Life Christ Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Shayne was leery of “canned” presentations of the Gospel so he was hesitant to attend a Youth EE Clinic. Yet he attended. And during the clinic, he experienced teenagers leading other teenagers to Christ.

“But I was not completely convinced,” said Shayne. “It was foreign to my experience to hear of so many people coming to faith in Christ in such extraordinary ways.” For Shayne it was a crisis of his own personal faith. “Did I really believe the Lord could save people simply by sharing a 15 minute Gospel message to a stranger? My God was too small,” he exclaimed.

In his first experience of sharing the EE Gospel presentation, Shayne had a profession of faith. “I stood in awe of my God,” he remarked! “He responded to my unbelief by revealing Himself to me in a clearer way.”

Shayne implemented EE into his youth program and it set his youth group on fire. “We have teens lining up to take Youth EE because they have seen the fruit,” said Shayne. “It’s rocked their world. If you convince teens that they can impact the world for Christ, then they will!” The spiritual growth Shayne has seen in his youth ministry through EE has exceeded all his expectations. “No longer are we a typical youth group content with typical Christian teens. Rather, we take the Great Commission very seriously.”

“I need help!”

During an EE clinic at a church in Kuala Lumpur, a very emotional, stressed out man drove into the church parking lot, got out of his car and walked up to EE Trainer, Tom Mangham, and said, “I came here because I need help!” He had been in jail a few years ago, he just had a fight with his wife, and felt he had no place to turn. Tom said, “You came to the right place!” As Alvin paced back and forth across the gravel parking lot, Tom and three trainees tried to keep pace as they shared the Gospel. Moments later they were kneeling on the gravel as Alvin opened his heart and accepted Christ.

As Alvin drove away, some on the team were skeptical of his sincerity since he had made the decision in a very emotional state. That skepticism disappeared 30 minutes later when Alvin returned with his wife and two sons. “My wife is Buddhist and has been trusting in a female spirit,” Alvin remarked. “She needs to hear what you told me!”

Alvin’s wife could only speak a Chinese dialect called Hokien. So another trainer at the clinic was able to lead her in a decision to accept Jesus Christ. They promised to be in church on Sunday so that their two sons could get involved in Sunday School and the youth program.

In God’s time

Tom Stebbins, our Executive Vice President , heard a story of a Jesuit priest, who left the Jesuits and married a Christian who didn’t know how to share her faith. The couple had a daughter, and many years later, their daughter was trained in EE. It was the daughter who led her father, an ex-Jesuit priest, to the Lord.
