Fishing for People
The smell of smoke was almost suffocating. Acid rock music was heard within the apartment. A young man in army fatigues answered the door. The EE team mentioned the local church they were from in Norman, Oklahoma, and asked the young man if he would assist them by answering their questionnaire. His roommate bounded to the door and said, "I've been wanting to get back in the church where you are all from!"
Todd invited the EE team in and the Gospel was shared. Shortly after, a young woman came out of a back room in tears. Amy was already a Christian. But she was struggling with guilt from sin in her life. The EE team talked with her about God?s forgiveness and that nothing could separate her from God. Amy said that she had just been in her room praying that God would send someone to help her. Todd said that he had been looking for answers about his salvation. Rick, the young man in army fatigues, added that he had been searching for help since his friend had been shot and killed two years ago.
Coincidence? Hardly. They were amazed at God's power and timing. Todd said, "Thank you so much for coming." The two young men invited Christ into their lives. And Amy was assured of God's love and forgiveness.
In a cemetery
Jim Moore, an EE Teacher/Trainer, was tracing family genealogies. He found himself traveling back-country roads in search of a small town cemetery where he might find helpful information on a relative's headstone. In the middle of nowhere, he spotted a cemetery with only a few grave sites. As he entered the cemetery he noticed a man standing by one of the graves. His natural inclination was to avoid the man. But earlier, he had prayed for a divine appointment. Could this be his answer?
As Jim looked over headstones, the bearded man began to follow him closely. Jim smelled alcohol on the man's breath and felt a strong conviction to talk to him about Christ. Jim said, "Sir, I believe that God sent me to talk to you today." The man was taken aback. During the EE Gospel presentation, the man was sober and responsive. In that remote setting, the man accepted Christ as Savior. Jim thought, "Here were two men, standing in a tiny, remote cemetery praying to God. Only He could have put together such a scenario."
Sovereign God
During an overnight stay in Zurich, Ray Castro, EE's new International Vice President, and a friend, went to a restaurant. Kara, a young lady from England, waited on their table. Since there were few customers, Ray struck up a conversation with Kara. Ray asked her about the spiritual climate of the young people her age in Zurich. Kara demonstrated an openness and Ray shared the Gospel. Kara prayed and asked Jesus to come into her heart.
As Ray returned to his hotel, he lamented the fact that Kara had no Bible nor someone to do follow-up. But he concluded that this was the work of God and He would care for her.
The next day, during Ray's Swiss Air flight to Los Angeles, Ray asked a flight attendant about her "fish" necklace. Ray discovered that this flight attendant, Esther, was a Christian from Zurich, and attended a good evangelical church there. Ray shared his concern for Kara with Esther. Esther was familiar with the restaurant. She agreed to follow-up Kara and buy her a Bible. Esther mentioned her desire to be equipped to share the Gospel and Ray provided her with information on how to be trained in EE. Our Sovereign God is awesome!
