Intruders?
An EE team went on a visit, but for the second consecutive week, the occupants werent home. The trainer decided to go door-to-door using questionnaires. At the first home, they were greeted by a not-so-friendly watch dog. It seemed unlikely they would get in the door, but once the dog was confined, a man and his wife, both police officers, invited them in. Soon thereafter, they were sharing the Gospel.
The woman listened intently. But her husband immediately raised objections and began to argue every point. He stated that he had problems with swearing and other sins and that he couldnt change. The trainer, sensitive to the situation, continued to share the Gospel.
Following the Gospel presentation, the woman wanted to pray to receive Christ. Within minutes, her husband broke down and said that he didnt want to be left behind if she was going to heaven. So they both professed faith in Christ!
When the EE team identified the church they were from, the couple was very familiar with the church. The church had so many false security alarms, that the couple had raced to the church, several times, to stop the intruders.
Equipping lay people
Mike Barnhouse is a layman who spent many years searching for an effective way to share his faith. His search ended when he got involved in EE at First Baptist Church in Euliss, Texas. Once in EE, it was a life changing experience.
Mike now lives in South Carolina, where he has implemented EE in his church and has also begun a ministry where he shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ to apartment dwellers.
Kevin and Cindy Feldkamp were trained in EE, also at First Baptist Church in Euliss. They now live in the Cincinnati area. Kevin has started EE at their church, while Cindy shares the Gospel as a volunteer at the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
These are just a few examples of lay people who are truly making an eternal impact in the world.
It works!
Gary Letchworth, EE Vice President for Asia, communicated this story: A pastor in charge of church plant-ing worked in Egypt for five years. During that time the pastor had a congregation of only three families. The pastor learned of EE and decided to attend a six-day clinic.
Using Evangelism Explosion, the pastors congregation grew from three families to fifteen families in one year. We often hear from pastors and lay people across the world who tell us this about EE: it works!
